Client: Ministry of Water Resources & Irrigation
The Government of Egypt, represented by the Ministry of Water Resources & Irrigation, decided to undertake a comprehensive feasibility study of the Assiut Barrage to determine whether to rehabilitate the existing barrage or to construct a new one. Additionally, the Ministry wanted to study the possibility of using the water head at the Assiut Barrage for power production.Associated firms:  CES Consulting Engineers, Salzgitter Fichtner GmbH & Co.,  Mott MacDonald Ltd., Prof. Dr. Lackner & Partners. Hamza Associates specialists conducted a full study at the site of the existing barrage, including geotechnical investigation and testing, topographic and bathymetric surveys, groundwater modeling, and environmental and social impact assessments.  We also designed the roads connecting the new barrage bridge with the existing road network, and assisted in the socio-economic study of the project and the conceptual design of the structural and civil works for a new barrage.
