About Eaton
Our heritage
Eaton has been serving the power management needs of our customers for more than a century. Over the years, we have expanded our expertise and portfolio of products and services by uniting some of the world’s most respected names with Eaton’s strong heritage of innovation.
A legacy of innovation
It all began in 1911 with Joseph Eaton. In a time when transportation was on the verge of dramatic change, he invested in a new idea -- the very first gear-driven truck axle. More than 100 years later, though our business has transformed and grown significantly, we remain committed to his spirit of innovation.
Over the years, we have also expanded our expertise and portfolio of products, services, and systems by integrating the competencies of some of the world’s most respected names into Eaton to build the brand you can trust to meet your toughest power management challenges.
Our vision
To improve the quality of life and the environment through the use of power management technologies and services.
A company’s culture is represented by its unique purpose, beliefs, behavior, and attitudes
Our shared purpose is perfectly illustrated in our vision—it reinforces the importance that we place on our deepening impact on the world as they need for power continues to grow. We know that to achieve this vision we need to:
- Develop our employees by helping them succeed not just at work, but in life as well.
- Delight our customers by understanding their challenges and delivering real solutions, proactively.
- Deliver for our shareholders by doing what’s right.
- Support our communities by offering our time and talent to meet social and economic needs in the places where we work and live.
Consistent with our values and desire to improve the quality of life for people and our environment, our brand promise—we make what matters work—expresses the spirit of what we do and more importantly, why we do it. The work that we do improves safety, reliability, efficiency, and sustainability in ways that matter to our employees, customers, shareholders, and communities.
Our vision has its foundation in our aspirational goals and leadership attributes. Together they guide every aspect of our business—from the people, we hire to our products and services, to our business partners and customers.
As a power management company, we must make power safe, reliable, and efficient for our customers. And that we do it better than anyone else. But we also recognize that we can only achieve this goal if we have excited and engaged employees doing work that they believe in. And when we get these two things right, we can give back and support our communities. And deliver superior returns to our shareholders.
