Khalifa International Stadium

When Qatar was awarded the 2022 World Cup in 2010, Khalifa International Stadium was inevitably nominated as one of the venues, despite the fact that it would require extensive renovations. The stadium's renovations began in 2014, and involved the renovation of all stands, as well as extra seats and hospitality amenities. The stadium's distinctive arch has been rebuilt with a new arch and augmented with a second arch, resulting in a vast unique roof covering encompassing 70% of the stadium.

The Khalifa International Stadium was completed in the summer of 2017, making it the first stadium to be ready for the 2022 World Cup. In 2019, the stadium hosted the 2019 World Athletics Championships. The Khalifa International Stadium is located in the west of Doha, about 10 kilometres from the city centre and 18 kilometres from the Pearl project in the north.

Station Sports City is one of the recently opened Golden Lines that goes through the heart of Doha, and it connects to the stadium.
