Light Rail Transport Project - LRT

For $2 billion this route connects Cairo with the new cities (Al Obour – Al Mostakbal – Al Shorouk – New Heliopolis – Al Badr – Industrial Zone – 10th of Ramadan – New Administrative Capital). The trial operation is set to begin in August 2021 and will conclude in October 2021.

The LRT has a total length of 90 kilometers and 16 stations, with a capacity of 30,000 passengers per hour per direction and 500,000 passengers per day.

Construction of stations, bridges, and tunnels; railway installation, cadastral survey, designs, and soil analysis are all part of the civil works.

After the operation, the trains reached a top speed of 120 km/h. The following stations are included in the final track: Badr – El Roubiki – the New Administrative Capital – the Industrial Zone – 10th Ramadan. Adly Mansour – Al Obour – Al Mostakbal – Al Shorouk 1 – Al Shorouk 2 – Workshops Area – Badr – El Roubiki – the New Administrative Capital – the Industrial Zone. The LRT track crosses the Saad El-Din El Shazly Axis on a taller bridge and then passes through it during its intersection with the Axis of Saad El-Din El Shazly. Each station has a vehicle park attached to it, which LRT passengers can use until their journey is completed.
